Three people are known to have died in severe weather which has swept across Argentina.Strong winds and heavy downpours have caused major problems and forced the evacuation of 2,700 people in various provinces throughout the country.Neuquen, in western Argentina, was one of the worst hit areas, after the heaviest rains in 40 years battered the city.118mm of rain fell in just 24 hours, far exceeding the monthly average of just 16mm.The downpour paralysed the city, rendering roads impassable and forcing the closure of schools and stores.Other provinces which were affected by flooding include the wine-growing region of Mendoza and the northern provinces of Santa Fe and Cordoba.More severe storms are expected over the next few days, with more flooding a real possibility.
