Zambia May inflation steady at 7.8 percent y/y - CSO

LUSAKA - Zambia's consumer inflation was unchanged at 7.8 percent year-on-year in May compared with April, the Central Statistical Office (CSO) said on Thursday.

On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices rose by 0.9 percent after a 0.7 percent increase in April.

The copper-producing nation recorded a lower trade surplus of 43 million Zambian kwacha ($6.2 million) in April from 79.9 million kwacha in March, the CSO added.
