Southampton Publick House’s busy brewmaster, Phil Markowski, routinely travels to three breweries in New York State and Pennsylvania to make Southampton-branded beer. As well the eclectic range he’s created for the brewery-restaurant on Long Island, he also brews specials, packaged in 750ml corked bottles, and oversees the production of Double White and Secret Ale. Since early 2008, the Southampton range of beers has been marketed by Pabst.

Markowski is author of Farmhouse Ales, a definitive guide to the saison and bière de garde styles of Wallonia in Belgium.

Double White Ale

beer style: Witbier
alcohol content: 6.8% ABV

Bright floral, citric, and sweet notes from the start. Rich textures cut by wheat and orange tartness.

Imperial Porter

beer style: Baltic Porter
alcohol content: 7.2% ABV

Rich, intoxicating aromas of dark fruit and chocolate, joined by coffee on the palate. Pleasantly bitter finish.

beer style: Saison
alcohol content: 6.5% ABV

An endorsement for “Farmhouse Ales”—fruity, peppery, slightly tart, earthy, and refreshing.

Secret Ale

beer style: Altbier
alcohol content: 5.1% ABV

Slightly sweet caramel aromas, with firm bitterness matching rich malt on the palate, lasting beyond the finish.
