Ayesha Takia on plastic surgery: It is a personal choice

Ever since pictures of Ayesha Takia with excessive bee-stung lips and a frozen face went viral earlier this year, there were rumours of a plastic surgery gone wrong. Ayesha maintained that the photos were morphed, and insisted that it was the work of "a handful of vicious people". The actor also hit out indirectly at trolls through her Instagram posts.

Talking about it to SpotboyE, she said, "I was in Goa with my family when this came out and I just burst out laughing. I dealt with it by laughing about it and when it blew up I posted a little bit on my Instagram about how people should be confident of who they are and not care about what other people think. You should not try and defend yourself, when you have not really done anything wrong. It does not affect me and I moved on from it very easily."

In today's day and age, there is no escape from social media trolls. Ayesha empathised with those actresses who were subjected to trolling and said, "It's sad that there are all these girls who have been picked on recently despite the fact that they are doing such amazing work in their field. I think everyone should start paying less attention to such negativity."

Responding to rumours of going under the knife, Ayesha said that it was a "personal choice" and no one should be shamed for it. However, she added that she had no intention of undergoing plastic surgery. "It's 2017 and we can't judge anybody... They are entitled to do whatever they want to do with themselves. I might not want to do it, it is a personal choice," she said.
