Deepika Padukone says she is safe after Beaumonde Towers fire

A fire broke out today at Beaumonde Towers in Prabhadevi in Mumbai's Worli. Bollywood star Deepika Padukone owns an apartment in the plush Beaumonde Towers society.

Deepika took to Twitter this evening to say that she was safe and urged her fans and people to pray for the firefighters who were at the site.

"I am safe. Thank You everyone. Let us pray for our firefighters who are at site risking their lives..." wrote Deepika.

The fire was reported from the 33rd floor of the building. It was classified at level three by the Mumbai Fire Brigade.

About 95 residents were rescued from the towers this afternoon, after the fire broke out around 2pm.

When the fire broke out, Deepika was on the set of a brand shoot.

At least 10 fire tenders, five jumbo jets, two hydraulic platforms and ambulances were rushed to the spot to fight the fire.

Deepika Padukone bought the apartment in Beaumonde Towers in 2010. The actress and her father, badminton legend Prakash Padukone, jointly own the Beaumonde Towers property.

The 4BHK apartment spans 2,776 square feet. Deepika's house is on the 26th floor of Tower B of the society.

The Padmaavat star and her father paid a whopping Rs 16 crore for the society.
