a man with his mouth open © Provided by India Today Jacqueline Fernandez and Sidharth Malhotra left the grapevine in a tizzy back when they were shooting for A Gentleman - Sundar, Susheel, Risky.

The film was a sleeper hit and got both Sidharth and Jacqueline noticed for their sleek action and stylish sequences. And along with the film, came rumours of Sidharth and Jacqueline being in a relationship too.

After the film promotions though, the stories fizzled out.

And now, Jacqueline has spoken out about her relationship with Sidharth Malhotra.

In an interview to Filmfare, Fernandez said, "These rumours started when Sid and I signed A Gentleman. I'd ask my friends why are we being linked together? Do we give off that vibe? Have we indicated it somewhere? Is it working unintentionally somewhere in the marketing of the film? I just couldn't get it. Every time I've been with Sid, we've been normal together. So, I don't know where it was coming from."

She went on to say, "If I'm dating someone, I don't need to hide it from anyone. I'm not a 12-year-old who has to hide her relationships. I'm a grown-up girl. If I was dating someone it wouldn't be a big deal for me anymore. I would honestly admit to it."

Jacqueline also said how she must be given the benefit of the doubt as far as her relationship status is concerned.

"Rumours have fizzled out now that the film's over. I guess it was just hype around the film. Give me the benefit of doubt, I'd talk about a relationship. I've always been an open book. But Sid will always remain a close friend," said the Kick actor.

So what is her relation with Sidharth?

"He's an easy going and a lovely person. We've done two films together now. We're hoping to work again in the future. He's a fantastic human being and we've only been friends. I came to know we come from similar backgrounds," said Jacqueline.

Fernandez also said how she and Sidharth were quite similar.

"Sid also is someone who's come a long way. He was new to the industry. He's worked his way up, he was an AD, he didn't know anybody here. So, we're a lot similar. He's sensible. He knows what he wants, where he's going," she said, and added, "And yes, he's very, very good looking."

In the same interview, Jacqueline bared her heart about battling eating disorders too. She said that behind the glamour of the showbiz industry, there are a lot of compromises. She said that she has been through 'moments of desperation' and that she has 'suffered from eating disorders'.

"These happen because you let your insecurities take over. Not eating and putting your body through unhealthy eating patterns. I love food but I'd punish myself by not eating at all or binging on comfort food. The positivity that people now see in me is because I'm fighting my battles and I'm proud of overcoming them. But it's not been easy," said Jacqueline.

The actor, who made her Bollywood debut in 2009 with the film Aladin, shot to fame after starring opposite Salman Khan in 2014's Kick.

As of now, Jacqueline has films like Race 3 with Salman Khan and Drive with Sushant Singh Rajput in her kitty. She will also be seen in a special number in Tiger Shroff's Baaghi 2.
