2.0, the costliest film ever made in the history of Indian cinema, is gearing up for release this year. It is a known fact that the VFX effects of the film consumed the larger part of the film's budget, since director Shankar was keen on setting a benchmark with the film.

Now, rumours state that the VFX effects of the film have taken up an amount of Rs 550 crore. This is a whopping amount, given that the entire budget of Baahubali: The Beginning was way less than that (about Rs 200 crore).

In addition to that, 2.0 is also the first Indian film to be shot entirely on 3D camera. The film faced numerous issues during post-production since the VFX artists couldn't deliver the expected output on time.

Producers had to pool in more money for the work and the monetary demand of the film exceeded the initial budget of 2.0 by a huge margin. Reportedly, about Rs 100 crore was added at the last minute to wrap up the post-production work.

Starring Akshay Kumar in the antagonist's role, 2.0 also stars Amy Jackson in the role of the female lead.

AR Rahman has composed the songs for this sci-fi project.
