Sylvester Stallone claims his life is “unglamorous” most of the time.

The 68-year-old Hollywood legend has starred in over 50 films since launching his career in 1970.

But unlike what many of his fans may believe, Sylvester’s day-to-day existence isn’t flashy.

“You’d be surprised how unglamorous, or normal, my life is,” he told UK newspaper The Mirror. “My cars get flat tyres, my dogs go to the bathroom on the carpet and my shower doesn’t always work.”

The Expendables star decided to forgo a security detail despite his celebrity status.

He once hired guards to follow him around, but the safety net proved to be inauthentic for Sylvester.

“I try to walk, to be among people, so I’m not so isolated. And I don’t have security any more – I got rid of everyone,” he shared.

“I had a lot of security and it was affecting me. I was becoming distant. They became the only people I would talk to and that’s not real, it’s not a real experience.

“If you’re paying them, they’re going to say what you want to hear. I realised as long as you have to pay people to be around you, then they’re not really your buddies.”

The star also confessed his ego was inflated beyond belief between 1984 and 1986, after starring as iconic character Rambo in 1982 release First Blood.

But fortunately Sylvester’s current wife Jennifer Flavin, who he married in 1997 after divorcing twice before, helped him through the crisis he experienced with personal relationships.

“I had a lot of friends who were on the payroll and they became a kind of security blanket, they were my reality,” he said. “There’s no question about it, I became introspective. But then you learn to rein it in and usually somebody, often a partner, tells you ‘Hey, calm down’.

“So Jennifer sat me down and told me to let them go and for me to deal with my demons and my successes on my own.”
