Those who have entered the UAE illegally after August 1, 2018 will not be entitled to avail the Amnesty scheme. They will be subjected to the usual legal procedures related to entry and residence of foreigners in the country.

This was stated by Brigadier Saeed Rakan Al Rashedi, director-general of Foreign and Ports Affairs at the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, while touring the General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners in Sharjah.

Al Rashedi also inspected the reception centers established at the Sharjah Immigration office to receive the amnesty-seekers. The three-month scheme ends on October 1.

He commended the efforts and services provided by these centers and the mechanisms being followed to implement the Amnesty initiative. Al Rashedi was happy to find that a large number of applicants were benefiting from the scheme and their applications were being handled efficiently.

While meeting with the teams at the centers, the Brigadier stressed the keenness of the Authority to overcome any difficulties or obstacles that they might face to carry out the procedures to bring about the best possible results.

Meanwhile, Brigadier Arif Al Shamsi, another top official, called on the violators to benefit from the Amnesty plan in order to avoid fines and other legal penalties. He stressed that many people have already availed of the initiative and exempted from paying huge fines.

Al Shamsi said that those wishing to stay in the country were allowed to amend their residence status. Exit permits were issued to those who were keen to return to their countries and leave the UAE without any restrictions or fines.

He thanked the Authority and teams involved in the work for their incredible efforts. Al Shamsi hoped that the services and facilities being provided in all the centers would enable people to complete their procedures easily.
