Pretending I’m in Greece at… Oii Abu Dhabi

Sick of seeing my feed filled with envy-inducing holiday snaps from the Balearics and Cyclades, I decided to embark on my own Mediterranean adventure a little closer to home with a trip to Oii. Having opened earlier this year within the Abu Dhabi district of Al Qana, it’s a gorgeous tribute to the southern shores of the Mediterranean with minimalistic and earthy interiors, an impressive mocktail menu and chef Mario’s menu of fare inspired by the islands and southern shores of Spain, Greece and Italy. The gambas pil pil are a particular highlight. – Alice Holtham, Group Editor

Getting suited up thanks to… Suited and Booted

I’ve known Ryan, one half of the tailoring masterminds behind Suited & Booted, from the early days of the business, so when the company expanded into womenswear I couldn’t have thought of anyone better to make me my first suit. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been picking fabrics, attending fittings with their expert tailors and being guided through the best fits, shapes and finishes by Eilidh, their head of womenswear. The result? A cobalt blue blazer and high waisted trouser set you’ll find me wearing to every meeting. – Alice Holtham, Group Editor

Keeping hydrated with… Natrl

A rather large box arrived on my desk this week, I recognised its shape and nozzle from my younger days, although it wasn’t storing the contents I was used to. Natrl is a water company delivering hydration to the city with its huge 10L boxes. In a bid to cut down on plastic, the New Zealand water brand has devised a handy vessel which can be kept in the fridge or on your desk, providing an eco-friendly solution to thirsty moments. – Elise Kerr, Deputy Editor

Working my way through the menu at… Fat Uncle

Al Wasl is home to a brand-new homegrown restaurant that goes by the name of Fat Uncle. The cool spot has a great vibe, with down to earth staff, pumping soundtrack and exciting mocktail bar. The menu is unique and intriguing, with dishes such as cheeseburger gyoza, short rib pizza, and crispy crab and avocado salad. Make sure you check it out if you’re passing by. – Elise Kerr, Deputy Editor

Looking forward to starting the weekend off with Chinese food at… Golden Dragon

It’s been a very (very) long week and all I am looking forward to doing is hanging out with my closest friends to kickstart the weekend. After the usual back and forth on our WhatsApp chat, we decided on Golden Dragon. I’m salivating thinking about the dim sum platter, Shanghai Prawns, Kung Pao chicken, chicken in black pepper sauce, and Mee Gorng Mamak noodles. Slurp… – Aarti Saundalkar, Online Reporter

Finally getting that booking in for lunch at… Hunter & Barrel

Over the weekend I am catching up with a friend at this award-wining steakhouse and finally getting to try the food I’ve been hearing about forever. My friends who have visited a number of times before have recommended the sharing platter, steak and the cheesecake. Yep, it’s definitely one of those stretchy pants type of weekend… – Aarti Saundalkar, Online Reporter

American Diner indulgence with… Fuddruckers

I know, I know. You’re meant to go to an American diner and hog on cheesy, meaty burgers. But when I dined at Fuddruckers this week, I found my soulmate on the first page of the menu. The chicken quesadilla is pure Mexican perfection that will leave you longing for more. Others at my table had an assortment of burgers, salads and more. Everything was cooked to perfection and oozed deliciousness. It’s definitely the first of many trips to come for me. – Saniya Udeshi, Editorial Intern

Screams and thrills at… IMG Worlds of Adventure

© Provided by

With temperatures refusing to go below 40 degrees, I had to find indoor recreation for the weekend. This Saturday saw me at IMG theme park, which has a host of brilliant rides, ranging from slow and peaceful to dangerously insane but so much fun (I’m looking at you, Thor Thunderspin). I also had a field time in the haunted hotel, but the claw marks left on my arm by my friends should be warning enough for the fainthearted. – Saniya Udeshi, Editorial Intern
