Hollywood's golden couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are reportedly being eyed to star in yet another remake of Fantastic Four.

The couple, who appeared together in 2018 thriller A Quiet Place, could be set to play Reed Richards and Sue Storm in a new version of the superhero tale, reports claim.

A source told We Got This Covered that the duo are two of 'many actors who are being considered at this early, early stage' of the rumoured project.

Fantastic Four was last adapted by 20th Century Fox in 2015, starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell in the titular roles. The film, directed by Josh Trank, earned just $167 million worldwide.

The film was a reboot of a 2005 film of the same name, starring Chris Evans and Jessica Alba, which was followed up two years later by Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Rumours of a new adaptation come after Disney's acquisition of Fox's entertainment assets was completed in a $71.3 billion in March.

The company now has the opportunity to add to its already impressive Marvel roster, as it owns the cinematic rights to Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

It was claimed in March that a new Disney adaptation of the tale would focus on superheros Johnny Storm, Sue Storm, Reed Richards and Ben Grimm in their '20s or 30s', We Got This Covered reported.

The film, which would appear in the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, would reportedly be a 'cosmic adventure' based on the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic series by Brian Michael Bendis.

A representative for Emily and John has been contacted for comment.

Emily, 36, and John, 39, previously starred alongside each other in A Quiet Place, and are currently working on a follow up to the film which is scheduled for release in May 2020.

The Into The Woods star will return in her role as Evelyn Abbott, with Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe back as her children.

The movie follows the family in a post-apocalyptic world that has been taken over by blind monsters with an acute sense of hearing.

John previously claimed that he never intended to make a sequel and was 'mind-tricked' into writing his idea for the next movie.

He said: 'I'll be honest with you: I really didn't want to do the sequel. It was never built to launch sequels, which we all knew, and the studio knew too. But also, I'm a realist.

'I know that when you have a success like this, everyone wants to make another one. I told them to go find another filmmaker and writer, and they said, "But don't you have an idea?"

'I said, "Yeah, I have a tiny idea," so they said, "OK, while we're talking to other people, keep thinking about it". They basically mind-tricked me into wanting to write it.'
