The Duchess of Sussex has surprised students at Kings College when she turned up for a private visit.

The pregnant Royal arrived at the London campus on Wednesday for a discussion on higher education and gender equality - a cause close to her heart.

Meghan Markle was lending her support to the Association of Commonwealth Universities, which comes off the back of her rousing speech in Fiji on further studies.

In that speech, the Northwestern University alum announced two new grants for women for the University of the South Pacific and Fiji National University, perhaps a sign of the collaboration to come.

The American-born royal has been championing female equality since the age of 11.

Wearing a black short sleeved top, the Duchess added a caramel wool coat, which she draped over her shoulders for part of the event in photos posted by Kensington Palace.

The 37-year-old sat at a table - which covered her growing baby bump - along with a group of university leaders, academics and international scholarship students.

While in other images, the former actress can be seen studiously holding a pen over a writing pad, poised to take notes of the conversation.

In addition to the equality issue, the group discussed issues such as climate change, peach and reconciliation, as well as human trafficking and modern slavery - two causes also very close to Princess Eugenie's heart.
