Canberra golfer Nikki Campbell may have to reconsider possible retirement at the end of this year after she continued her purple patch of form at the Deloitte Ladies Open in Holland.

Campbell came agonisingly close to her breakthrough European Tour victory on Monday morning, edged out in a playoff by Scotland's Kylie Walker.

Campbell, who last week qualified for next month's US Open, had to settle for a share of second with Denmark's Malene Jorgensen.

Campbell revealed in January she is considering quitting the sport to focus on family and to have children after her mum's recent recovery from a coma.

''For me, it's a new chapter [this year]. I've always wanted to have kids and I'll go back to Europe [to play in May], but at the end of the year maybe I'll look at having a family,'' she said.

She has been in fine touch ever since, registering tied for 15th, tied for ninth and tied for second results to sit 13th on Europe's Order of Merit.
