A 20-year-old learner driver was caught drink driving on Thursday night with her 45-year-old supervising driver also returning a blood alcohol reading on 0.151.

Police pulled over the learner driver on Athllon Drive in Kambah about 7.50pm and conducted a roadside breath test of the driver and the supervising passenger.

The 20-year-old female driver from Rivett returned a reading of 0.051, while her supervisor, a 45-year-old woman from Duffy, returned a 0.151 reading and was identified as a repeat drink driver.

Traffic Operations Station Sergeant Rod Anderson said the incident showed disregard for the safety of other road users.

"A supervising driver holds the responsibility of instructing the learner driver," he said.

"Doing so while impaired shows complete disregard for the safety of that learner driver and all other road users.

"There is absolutely no excuse to drive or supervise a learner driver while over that limit."

Both women will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court and the 20-year-old woman's licence was suspended.
