Queanbeyan Kangaroos forward Adam Pearce will face the Canberra Raiders Cup judiciary on Thursday night after he was cited for the use of offensive or obscene language towards a match official against Tuggeranong on Saturday.

It means he is in danger of being suspended for Canberra's Country Championships clash with Newcastle at Wyong on June 14 after he was named in the 18-man squad on Monday.

Pearce was given his marching orders in the dying seconds of the match by referee Martin Jones after Tuggeranong had scored a match-levelling try.

It is understood the back-rower is not accused of questioning match officials' integrity.

Penalties for similar incidents in the past have ranged from a caution to a two-week ban for more severe offences.

Former Canberra Raiders centre, Gungahlin's David Howell, headlines a strong squad with Michael Brophy and Josh Ayers named co-captains.

Canberra Country Championships squad: Channon McAskill, Chris Thorley, Tsai Tui, Josh Ayers, Dwayne Connors, Aidan Greenwood, David Howell, Richard Kelly, Matt Lewis, Josh Mitchell, Adam Pearce, Michael Cullen, Levi Freeman, Tyler Stevens, Michael Brophy, Matt Holmes, Carl Johnson, Tim Crome.
