How Kérastase’ Iconic Hair Oil Is Supporting LGBTQIA+ Youth For Pride Month

Throughout the month of June, we've seen countries around the world celebrate Pride Month, honouring members of the LGBTQIA+ community and working towards equal justice. While celebrations vary, several big name brands have thrown some weight behind the cause, chief among them — Kérastase.

Partnering with Minus18 — an Australian organisation which seeks to provide safe spaces, events and workshops for those in the LGBTQIA+ community — Kérastase have transformed one of their most iconic products, the Elixir Ultime, for a limited time.

The oil, which is suitable for every hair type, has long been transforming the hair of many, regardless of their age, race or sexual orientation. Now, the hair is making the ultimate inclusive step, with a percentage of profits going toward the charity.

With a special bottle featuring the rainbow colour scheme, in honour of the Pride flag which dates back to 1978, the design is the perfect fusion of past and present.

But, of course it doesn't just stop and start with the bottle. While the brand will be donating to Minus18, it will also be subsidising LGBTQIA+ Inclusion Workshops for schools across Australia and incorporating the organisation's inclusion education training in every Kérastase salon and head office in the country.

The important work of Minus18 wouldn't be possible without generous donations, making this partnership such a special one. With up to 21% of Australian high school students identifying as LGBTQIA+ and 66% of youth in this community experiencing bullying or harassment, it's never been more important to offer safe, welcoming spaces.

As a brand, Kérastase are executing their support on a global scale, with each participating country supporting projects within the LGBTQIA+ community. Whether it be funding for housing, mental health, education or other services, over 15 countries are taking part, meaning the global reach will be widespread.

This special announcement is part of the brand's promise to meaningfully contribute to better the world for anyone and everyone who makes up the colourful, vibrant LGBTQIA+ community.

The Elixir Ultime: Pride Edition is available for $64 for a limited time only through the Kérastase website, participating salons and e-retailers.
