You have to admit that when it comes to eyeing off the fashionating looks of the British Royal family, your gaze turns to usually-dressed-in-Zara Duchess Catherine and rule-breaking new royal Meghan Markle.

Well, it seems that our favourite monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, 92, has been rethinking her out-and-about attire, adding a series of stylish sunglasses to her already bold-and-bright daywear.

Really, though – can you think of any other time the Queen repped sunnies? Even during her decades of presiding over Trooping The Colour, moving her gaze to the sunny sky to watch fighter jets fly up above, the Queen is rarely seen even squinting.

This year, she's changing things up in a bid to protect her eye health. Yes, despite us hoping that the Queen had chucked a Susan Sarandon and opted for a stylish set of shades to jazz up her summertime ensembles, the Queen is in fact recovering from eye surgery.

Indeed, according to Grazia UK, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Queen underwent eye surgery at King Edward VII Hospital to remove a cataract last month – and the sunglasses are a provision to protect her eyes from the elements as her surgery heals.

Thankfully, she seems to have made a speedy recovery, with the Queen opting to go without sunglasses during this year's Trooping The Colour last weekend.

And the most surprisingly stoic thing about the Queen's fashionably practical faux pas? By wearing out-of-character sunglasses meant that she wouldn't have to miss any Royal engagements in the wake of her operation.

What a woman!
