Emergency services were called to Epping Road in Wollert about 12am after reports that an allegedly stolen Toyota RAV4 had crashed through the front of a produce store.

Witness Matthew Brennan said he was driving home from a his sister’s 19th birthday when he saw “bit of smoke and a bit of a fiery glow.”

“There was a lot of smoke and you could tell the building was pretty lit on fire, pretty out of control,  pretty dangerous considering there’s a servo right there,” he said.

“Pretty much the whole shop was on fire blowing up smoke everywhere … the whole carpark was filled with black smoke we could barely breathe.

“I was coughing my lungs out I’m sure everyone else was.”
