An elderly man has been found dead in his home south of Perth after he was allegedly murdered by his neighbour.

Allan Tom Pederson, 82, was found in his Orelia property by his friend Margaret King after midday on February 6.

He was bleeding and suffering head injuries. He was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital but died that night.

Mr Pederson’s neighbour, Michal Ander Dalton, has been charged with his murder and faced Rockingham Magistrates Court today.

He was remanded in custody until his appearance in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court later this month.

Neighbours are shocked by the news and said the 82-year-old, who was suffering cancer, would not have been able to defend himself.

“He wouldn’t have been too steady on the feet,” Susan Street said.

“He could probably be knocked over with a feather… everyone is pretty upset about it because Alan didn’t deserve this.”

Ms King discovered Mr Pederson’s body on Wednesday when she arrived to take him to do his grocery shopping.

“It was all closed up so I banged on the door and the windows and everything else, and couldn’t get any answers,” she said.

“There was a lot of blood, it wasn’t very nice.”

Ms Street said the death made her question the safety of her neighbourhood.

“Yes I will miss him, I think I’ll be moving on actually,” she said.

“Quite honest, I don’t feel safe here, I really don’t feel safe anymore, you don’t know who lives next door to you.”
