A man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after flames tore through an Ipswich home.

Emergency services were called to Woogaroo Street in the Ipswich suburb of Goodna just after midnight on Tuesday.

The three fire crews found the two-storey timber house "well alight" upon arrival at the scene and fought to protect a neighbouring property from the flames, according to a fire service spokeswoman.

The Queensland Ambulance Service took a man to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition with suspected smoke inhalation and minor burns to his feet.

According to the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service, the fire was brought under control just before 1am and extinguished about 2.25am.

Fire investigators and police forensic officers were expected to examine the scene later in the day.

In a separate incident, a three-storey commercial building in Redcliffe, north of Brisbane, also went up in flames overnight.

Four fire crews arrived at the scene on Sutton Street just before 4am and fought the fire for 90 minutes before it was extinguished.

No one was injured and fire investigators were expected to examine the scene later in the day.
