Malcolm Turnbull’s son has entered the election campaign in the final 72 hours, urging voters to dump health minister Greg Hunt, and essentially back former Liberal Julia Banks.

Alex Turnbull recorded a robocall for activist group GetUp!, which was made to homes in the Flinders electorate, south-east of Melbourne last night.

In the call he criticised Mr Hunt for backing Peter Dutton in the leadership coup, helping to oust Mr Turnbull’s father from the top job.

Alex Turnbull’s intervention comes a month after 9News revealed he had helped organise financial support to set-up Ms Banks’ campaign website.

Ms Banks, who was the member for Chisholm, is running as an independent against Mr Hunt.
