Thomas Charles Adamson, 27, must serve nine years before he's eligible for parole after pleading guilty to two charges of culpable driving causing the deaths of Meili Dai, 44, and Xinyu Yuan, 14, on August 9 last year.

In a plea hearing last month, the County Court heard Adamson had been doing between 155 km/h and 165 km/h along the Gippsland Highway at Cranbourne before he braked just 14 metres from Mrs Dai's car as she and her daughter left parent teacher interviews.
