Richmond coach Damien Hardwick is confident star forward Jack Riewoldt is primed to play a key role in the Tigers' push to the finals after emerging from a frustrating injury absence.

Riewoldt will make his highly-anticipated return against GWS at the MCG on Sunday after suffering a posterior cruciate ligament injury in round six, which was his first game back after three matches out with a broken wrist.

Riewoldt has only played three games alongside marquee signing Tom Lynch and Hardwick told reporters on Friday that establishing chemistry between the key forwards will be vital as they push for a top-four finish.
