Violence far lower at Macquarie Prison where serious offenders enjoy more freedoms
A new approach to jailing maximum security inmates is yielding positive results at Macquarie Prison, in the state's central west. The experiment which sees inmates participate in art classes, make television, and live in dormitories, has led to record low rates of assaults on staff and other prisoners.
