Barnaby Joyce thinks Berejiklian is safe but amendments needed for bill

September 17, 2019. Federal MP Barnaby Joyce speaks to the media in Canberra about the abortion bill before the NSW upper house. Mr Joyce has been vocal in supporting amendments to the bill that ensures protections against unborn babies beyond 22 weeks. The Premier Gladys Berejiklian faced a spill motion against her leadership overnight over the bill to decriminalised abortion but that has since been abandoned. "You must respect it with the proper inquiries," Mr Joyce says. "The fate of the government rests in the upper house of the NSW parliament doing the right thing and fixing bad legislation".
