Frydenberg explains why voters should trust coalition on wages

April 23, 2019. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg at the SCG alongside Minister for Sport Bridget McKenzie is asked why voters should trust him when he says wages will rise under a coalition government. Mr Frydneberg says the "key to higher wages is not higher taxes". "But that is what Bill Shorten is promising the Australian people," Mr Frydenberg says. Mr Frydenberg says the government's plans around lower taxes, infrastructure spending and investment in apprentices will deliver higher wages. Mr Frydenberg goes to on to describe Labor leader Bill Shorten as the "Olympic champion" of 457 visas when asked if his government would back Mr Shorten's plans for a $65,000 minimum wage for migrant workers.
