Report calls out unique Aussie wildlife threatened by climate change

September 17, 2019. Climate Council Australia's Chief Climate Councillor Professor Tim Flannery and lead author of a report detailing biodiversity loss, Professor Lesley Hughes, speak to reporters in Sydney. Professor Flannery says the report shows Australia is heading for an "extinction cascade" through inaction on climate change. Professor Hughes says hundreds of species are dying out as a result of drought and heatwave. "We are seeing bushfires... penetrate into areas of vegetation where bushfires have never been felt before," Professor Hughes says. "We're almost at the last stages now of being able to make a choice... but we need action now," Professor Flannery says. (AAP Video/Michael Wade)
