2011 Audi A8 L

Audi's big debut for Beijing was its long-wheelbase version of the A8. Stretched by 13 cm - all of which was behind the middle B-pillars - it offers plenty of space for rear-seat passengers. As Audi's most opulent model, it's is available with individual rear bucket seats complete with heating, ventilation, lumbar support and six-way power adjustment. But the big news for this model is the return of the W12 engine. Audi has reworked its range-topping motor, enlarging it from 6.0 to 6.3 litres, and has fitted direct-injection. The result is a motor that puts out just shy of 500 horsepower (493 hp) and 461 lb.-ft of torque. Power is routed to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic. With the W12 on board, the A8 L can reach 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. As a bonus, it also uses 12 per cent less fuel. The new A8 L will be available in North America later this year with the standard 4.2-litre V8, but the W12 won't arrive until next year.
