Buick replaces the LaCrosse's base four-cylinder engine with a hybrid powertrain that will reportedly deliver 25 per cent better fuel economy -- 25 mpg city/37 mpg highway (equal to 9.4 L/100 km city, 6.3 L/100 km highway) versus 19/30 (12.4 / 7.8) from the original four-cylinder (Canadian figures have yet to be released). Technically, the "gas" part of the equation is the same -- a 2.4-liter 182-horsepower four-cylinder engine. Buick has added an electric motor that can provide an additional 15 horsepower and 79 lb.-ft. of torque. Inside, the car gets an Eco gauge to help the driver achieve maximum efficiency. Buick says there will be no price premium for the hybrid system. That's a bold and welcome move.Related Autos links: 2010 LA Auto Show: Shining stars of L.A.2010 LA Auto Show: Worst in showThe girls of the 2010 LA Auto Show
