Which cars and trucks hold onto their value best?

When discussing vehicles in similar categories, price is obviously one of the major factors. But one thing often forgotten is how much your purchase will be worth when you’re done with it. Depreciation can mean thousands or tens of thousands of dollars lost, which puts a serious pinch on nearly everyone. Canadian Black Book, the service that for 50 years has helped determine just how much used vehicles are worth on the market. For the last five, CBB has offered a consumer-friendly site that gives buyers a much better idea of how much they could expect to either sell privately or trade in. Is buying for residual value alone really worth it? No, not if the vehicle doesn’t suit your needs or tastes. But the winners here aren’t only great long-term values, they are also darned good cars, trucks, vans and SUVs.
