All of the NASCAR Aero Dodges, Plymouths , Fords and Mercurys Ever Made Are Here At This One Gathering

The 2015 Aero Warriors Reunion continues with this private gathering in Alexander City, Alabama, nestled in the middle of Montgomery, Atlanta, and Birmingham. It’s a throwback town that’s cool in that quaint way, which is just the opposite of the gathering, with all of its muscle and color and power just waiting for the big day on Sunday at ’Dega for the Bucket List laps around the fabled track for participants of the Reunion. HOT ROD will be there for that.

Until then check out our gallery of 150 images that tries to capture the incredible assemblage of winged and aero cars from that magic time in 1969-1970 when NASCAR allowed the ultimate in factory backed stock cars. Back when left to their own devices the Big Two came up with these spaceships as race cars. Can you imagine what other phantasmagorical creations we would be lusting after if NASCAR had stuck with the 500, or 1,500, or maybe 2,500 production requirement to homologate factory cars? If only NASCAR had let Ford and Chrysler field an aero, no-holds-barred, bring-it-on season or seasons of insanity?

On another note there were THREE 1970 King Cobra Torino/Cyclone Spoiler Mercurys at this event, which we have pictures of in the gallery. As Ford and Mercury never got to field these cars before NASCAR banned them, and that only six were ever created for testing purposes, makes this show an incredible gathering of three of the rarest and most collectible racing Ford products ever. Check it out!
