Are You Ready for a Jaguar F-Type SVR with 600+ HP?

Extreme as the 550-hp Jaguar F-Type R coupe may seem, the rumor mill is again churning out fresh hopes that there is an even higher-output variant to come. Motor Trend reports that there will be a Jaguar F-Type SVR with 600-plus-hp.

Lieberman's report confirms our earlier prediction from AUTOMOBILE European Bureau chief Georg Kacher for a pumped-up version of the already potent F-Type R. It’s likely that this SVR version is actually the foretold R-S model that Kacher initially projected among three high-performance F-Type models in all: R, R-S, and GT.

The first model emerging from SVO is the new 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR super-SUV, which adds 40 hp and 41 lb-ft of torque to the Range Rover Sport Supercharged for a staggering 550 hp and 502 lb-ft. The Jaguar F-Type Project 7 convertible also comes courtesy of SVR, in a package that is 176 pounds lighter than the V8S convertible and 25 hp more powerful for a total of 575 hp. Just 250 examples are being built in total.

There still might be a track-bred GT version with the same 600-plus-hp engine ahead, engineered in the spirit of past vehicles like the XKR-S GT to incorporate aerodynamic and weight-reducing upgrades. Kacher previously suggested that these GT models would be produced in a limited run of about 50 units.

Check back in the coming months for more information on what's to come for the Jaguar F-Type and JLR's Special Vehicle Operations.
