Sales of new passengers cars and trucks were up four per cent from the 1.67 million vehicles sold in 2012, setting a new annual record of 1.74 million units in 2013, beating the previous record of 1.7 million set in 2002.* As has been the trend, the sales gains came from the truck sector. While passenger car sales were flat in 2013 compared to 2012, sales of light trucks (including crossovers, minivans and SUVs) were up seven per cent.
