1952 Porsche 356 Coupe #162

Porsche's first production car was the rear-engined 356, which began production in 1950. This 1952 coupe was the oldest example present at Rennsport. The first Beetle-based engines had a 1,086-cc displacement to qualify for the under-1,100-cc category in auto racing. Redesigned by Porsche, engines displacing 1.3, 1.5, and 1.6 litres — even a limited-run DOHC 2.0-litre — were added over the 356's 15-year production run.
