The 2020 Indy 500 Has Officially Been Postponed

Organizers for the 104th Indianapolis 500 announced today the race will be postponed. Originally set to take place on May 24, it will now take place on August 23. It's the latest major motorsport event to be affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

This isn't the first time the Indy 500 has been postponed. It's been rescheduled on three separate occasions due to rain. The last time the race was outright canceled, however, was during World War II. Thankfully, that doesn't seem to be the case here.

The Indy 500 is just one of many events on the IndyCar calendar that have been affected by the virus. Every that was supposed to happen in March and April were canceled. And it's not the only series. Formula 1, IMSA, NASCAR, WEC, WRC, MotoGP, and Formula E are just a few of the championships to have their seasons impacted.
