If that doesn't put the willies into drivers, how about week-long traffic jams caused by construction? Beijing is the industrial and economic heart of China, but its veins are going to get very clogged in the next decade. The city is spending nearly $50 billion trying to double the size of its already impressive public transportation system. This can't come soon enough; IBM reports that nearly a third of drivers surveyed turned around and cancelled their trip because traffic was so bad.
