These Bad Ass Drag Cars…are Towing Trailers

If you don’t know about HOT ROD Drag Week, it’s a competition that requires driving a race car on the street for a week straight, stopping every day to run the thing as hard as possible at a racetrack. To make it harder, competitors have to do this without towing the car around or getting support from a truck and trailer that follows along the route.Fast cars sometimes need race fuel on the way and dedicated racing tires for the next stop, but those sheetmetal tubs that replaced the back seat and monkey bar rollcage just balk at the thought of slicks and tools in the back. The result is this glaring quirk of HOT ROD’s drag week—cars that are designed to go 200 mph are towing teensy utility trailers that are designed to stay under 45 mph. It’s a weird side effect of the love of Drag Week. Check out the toters we spied on the test and tune day at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois.
