Beyonce has reportedly given birth to a boy and girl but they have been kept in hospital due to a "minor issue"

According to TMZ the twins were born in Los Angeles hospital and despite the "minor issue" the babies are expected to make a full recovery.

A source told the website: "We're told a "minor issue" surfaced, and as a result ... doctors do not feel comfortable releasing them. We do not know the nature of the issue. One source told us Beyonce also remains at the hospital, but as far as we know she's okay. The babies are expected to be okay as well.

The Single Ladies star, 35, and her 47-year-old rapper husband Jay Z's twins make the Carter's now a family of five alongside daughter Blue Ivy, 5.

“Bey and Jay are thrilled and have started sharing the news with their family and closest friends,” a source told People.

While Us Weekly reports that they welcomed the new arrivals earlier this week.

Fans had been piecing clues together for days - from security and cordon's surrounding the UCLA Medical Centre in LA to Bey's sister Solange being spotted at the very same hospital.

And Jay Z also skipped the Songwriters Hall Of Fame Awards on Thursday night despite being lined up to receive a special honour on the night.

However, there's been no official word from the superstar herself yet.

Mirror Celebs has contacted a representative for Beyonce for comment.

Bey and Jay had chosen not to reveal the gender of their twins ahead of the birth, which led to much speculation about whether it would be boys, girls or both joining the Carter family.

In April, Bey’s mum Tina told Extra: “I would be happy with whatever God gives me. It’s the biggest blessing and I’m so excited.”
