Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have heard the Spice Girls are back but it looks like there could already be a rift in the band as the girls were of divided opinion in their first TV interview in years!

Trust Jonathan Ross to rile the girls up with his cheeky questioning but we’re so glad he did because we’ve found out some juicy scoop about Victoria Beckham as a result.

It turns out Posh Spice hasn’t joined the reformed group because… she simply wasn’t asked!

Yep, when addressing the matter of Victoria missing from the lineup, Mel C revealed that Victoria pointed out the band hadn’t actually asked her to come back – they just presumed she wouldn’t!

‘Do you know what is actually quite funny…,’ Mel told Jonathan Ross, ‘I saw Victoria recently and obviously we’ve all been in contact, she is still very much a part of the Spice Girls, she really supports us and we really support her.’

‘But she did raise the point that she was never actually asked. We just presumed.’

Emma Bunton was quick to follow up Mel’s statement saying they did approach her but that Victoria ‘just didn’t want to’ because she was busy with her fashion empire and had ‘moved on.’

Geri, too, defended Victoria adding that she has seen the designer just days before the announcement and that ‘she has said it for years that she just doesn’t want to do it anymore’ and that the band ‘knew that.’

‘You don’t want to make somebody do something they don’t want to do,’ she added.

‘We realised a while back that she didn’t enjoy that so much,’ Emma agreed.

The girls admitted they’re always hopeful Victoria will reconsider and that the door is ‘always open.’

‘I’m always hopeful,’ said Mel B.

‘I love the Spice Girls, they are my girls and I would love nothing better than all five of us to be together so I always put it out there but I’m happy with four too.’

‘The brilliant thing about us lot is it’s like family,’ added Geri.

‘We have been together over 20 years and we have our ups and downs just like normal families, and sometimes we disagree but the best thing about it is a couple of nights ago we were in my kitchen, we all came together and we just had a really big group hug, a little bit of a tear, a scream, it’s been a long time coming, we’ve wanted this to happen.’

Catch the Spice Girls on the Jonathan Ross Show Saturday night on ITV at 10:05PM.
