Late-night Raptors games offer families bonding time, push bedtime rules

A southern Ontario couple have come up with a unique way to help young Raptors fans who want to stay up late to watch the NBA Finals. The Keswick, Ont. parents drafted a form letter that students can give their teachers to excuse them if they appear sleepy. Ryan Turvey says he and his wife wrote the letter after Game 5's nail-biter and are distributing it on social media. Lifestyle and parenting expert Maureen Dennis says only parents can decide if their kid can rebound quickly from a night of less sleep. The Caledon, Ontario, mom eased bedtime rules for her 15-year-old because of his intense love of the game. Dennis says she's not a big basketball fan but has made the effort to learn because it's important to her son. She says that family time is worth breaking the rules for.
