Sony CEO says ‘door is closed’ on Spider-Man appearing in MCU

Sony Pictures Chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra recently spoke at an entertainment and technology summit about the future of the superhero character, "Spider-Man." His comments are in response to Sony’s recent feud with Disney that began after the two were unable to reach a financial agreement for the web-slinger's continued appearances in the Marvel films. At the summit, Vinciquerra said “for the moment the door is closed” on "Spider-Man" continuing to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Vinciquerra did say that there was “no ill will” between the studios and added that “it’s a long life.” A tone that implied the two companies could eventually come to a future resolution. Vinciquerra praised the work of film producer and president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, but hinted that Sony would be fine without his involvement.
