Adopt4Life Presents: Child to Parent Violence & Aggression, Part 1

Child to Parent Violence and Aggression (CPVA) is when a child or young person uses verbal, physical, psychological or financial means to gain power or control over a parent or caregiver. This widely misunderstood issue affects the lives of millions of children, parents, and families, with some estimates indicating CPVA is present in ~30% of families with children who have experienced permanency disruptions, developmental trauma, or have been part of the child welfare system. CPVA is rarely discussed due to perceived stigma and shame; as a result there is a significant lack of available expertise and supports available to families. Adopt4Life is collaborating with partners across Canada and the UK to shine a light on this critical issue, eliminate the shame, and support families in helping their children heal.
