SHOTLIST:RESTRICTION SUMMARY: MUST CREDIT UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY HAWAII VOLCANO OBSERVATORYHawaii – 28 November 2022++MUTE++1. 12-hour timelapse of Mauna Loa summit caldera ++ SHOT REPEATS ++ANNOTATION: Waves of orange, glowing lava and smoky ash erupted Monday from the world's largest active volcano. The eruption of Hawaii's Mauna Loa wasn't immediately endangering any towns, but officials told Big Island residents to be ready for worse. The U.S. Geological Survey warned residents that an eruption "can be very dynamic, and the location and advance of lava flows can change rapidly." The eruption began late Sunday night following a series of fairly large earthquakes. Portions of the Big Island are under an ashfall advisory. Officials said up to a quarter-inch of ash could accumulate in some areas. The average Mauna Loa eruption is not typically prolonged, lasting a couple of weeks. The volcano last erupted 38 years ago.STORYLINE:Waves of orange, glowing lava and smoky ash erupted Monday from the world's largest active volcano. The eruption of Hawaii's Mauna Loa wasn't immediately endangering any towns, but officials told Big Island residents to be ready for worse. The U.S. Geological Survey warned residents that an eruption "can be very dynamic, and the location and advance of lava flows can change rapidly."The eruption began late Sunday night following a series of fairly large earthquakes.Portions of the Big Island are under an ashfall advisory.
