South Simcoe Police say a student has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision involving a school bus and a pickup truck in Innisfil, Ont., Wednesday morning.

Police said the crash happened at 8:10 a.m. at 5th Side Road and 4th Line about 90 kilometres north of Toronto.

Deputy Chief Robin McElary-Downer said there were 14 students on the bus at the time of the collision and one of the students was transported by Ornge Air Ambulance to a trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries. She said the other students were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police said the school bus was making its way to Nantyr Shores Secondary School when the incident took place.

The Simcoe County District School Board said school administrators went to the scene to support the students.

Authorities have not released any information about the cause of the crash and the investigation is ongoing.
