An eight-year-old boy has died after drowning at a pool party in Sherbrooke on Saturday. His death marks the third fatal drowning in Quebec since Friday.

Samuel Ducharme, spokesperson for the Sherbrooke police, called it “an unfortunate accident.” He said there was proper supervision and other children in the pool when the boy drowned, and therefore no criminal negligence. When the boy was found, CPR was performed before he was transported to a hospital, where he died Monday.

Two other young boys also drowned over the weekend. One 11-year-old boy was found unconscious in a pool while also attending a party, in Chelsea on Friday, and a three-year-old was found along a river in Upton on Saturday.
