Aug. 17, 2017: Barcelona, Spain

At least 13 people were killed and over a 100 injured when a van crashed into a summer crowd of residents and tourists in the historic Las Ramblas district of Barcelona. While Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy called it a "jihadist attack," terror group ISIS has claimed responsibility of the incident. In what is viewed as a related event, police killed five people in Cambrils, suspecting a similar terror attack. Officials also believe the two events might be linked to a gas explosion in Alcanar on Aug. 16, which left one dead.
