Conor McGregor's striking coach, Owen Roddy, says Floyd Mayweather Jr. could be making a big mistake if he decides to step into the Octagon with the Irishman.

Roddy issued a warning to Mayweather in an interview with Chisanga Malata of Express Sport.

"I think it's a bad move for Floyd to get into the cage," the SBG Charlestown coach said. "I just think he doesn't have enough time to learn what it takes to fight in the Octagon.

"But he could make a lot of money. And money talks."

Mayweather said in March that he planned to apply for an MMA license and would spend six-to-eight months training. It sounds like he may be having second thoughts now, though.

"As of right now, I'm touring around the world, doing different things, embracing my fans, getting love from all around the world, right now I'm just traveling," Mayweather told ABS-CBN Sports last week. "I don't know what the future holds, but as of right now, I'm retired. I'm not thinking about fighting right now."
