Tiger-Cats trade Collaros to Roughriders

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have traded quarterback Zach Collaros to the Saskatchewan Roughriders for a second-round pick in the upcoming CFL Draft.

The 29-year-old has spent the past four seasons in Hamilton and guided the team to three straight postseason appearances, including a trip to the Grey Cup in 2014. Collaros emerged as a reliable and steady contributor for Hamilton, though injuries have slowed him down and seen him miss 24 games since his breakout in 2015.

With Brandon Bridge slated to hit the open market, Collaros gives the Roughriders depth at quarterback as he's expected to compete with veteran Kevin Glenn for the starter's job.

For Hamilton, the move will fuel speculation of a Johnny Manziel signing as the team now have a glaring hole at the position. The Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL quarterback was recently cleared by the CFL to negotiate a deal with the Tiger-Cats, who hold his rights.
