An up-and-down first round at the Valspar Championship was finished strong by Tiger Woods, who posted a solid score of 1-under-par 70 on Thursday.

Woods started and finished the day with birdies, and showed flashes of his old self, but also sprinkled in four bogeys to stunt his move up the leaderboard.

Canadian Corey Conners holds the clubhouse lead at 4-under par, with Whee Kim, Nick Watney, and Kelly Kraft each sitting at 3-under.

Woods will be back in action Friday morning when he tees off alongside Jordan Spieth and Henrik Stenson at 7:56 a.m. ET.
