NHL milestones within reach during the 2017-18 season

Sporting News Logo By Brandon Schlager of Sporting News | Slide 1 of 10: Florida Panthers right wing Jaromir Jagr during the second period of an NHL hockey game against the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday, March 11, 2017, in Tampa, Fla.

Jaromir Jagr's 24th NHL season is a chance (maybe our last?) to celebrate the achievements of one of hockey's all-time greats.

The numbers are gaudy — second all time in points, third in goals, first in glorious mullets — in part due to longevity. Looking back, it's easy to wonder whether Jagr could be closing in on Wayne Gretzky's untouchable records had he not gone into an NHL hiatus. Nevertheless, Jagr still has a couple of pegs to climb in the twilight of his career.

That's one of the many reasons to watch him with the Flames this season, and there are a few other notable NHL veterans chasing down milestones as well.

Here's a look at who's chasing what and when we might get to see it happen.
